Glossary

A

Aka Dora (Red Dora): r+r+r Red dora tiles - special red versions of 5-man, 5-pin, and 5-sou that count as dora.

H

Hai Kouritsu (Tile Efficiency): The technique of combining tiles efficiently to maximize acceptance.

K

Kakan (Added Kan): Adding the 4th tile to an existing pon to make a kan.

M

Manzu (Character Suit): ++++++++ Character suit. Also read as "wanzu".

N

Nagashi Mangan: All discards being terminals/honors at exhaustive draw. Often worth mangan.

R

Rasu (Last Place): Last place (4th). For rounds, South 4 is "oorasu", South 3 is "rasu-mae".

S

Saishuukei (Final Shape): Final tenpai shape with no more tile exchanges possible.

T

Tacha (Other Players): The other 3 players at the table.

W

Wanpai (Dead Wall): The dead wall - 14 tiles (7x2 stack) remaining at the end of the wall.

Y

Yaochuuhai (Terminal/Honor Tiles): Collective term for honor tiles plus and (terminals).
